Blog Stage 8, comment on a classmates blog
My critique: On November 23rd, 2019, The Party In the USA, wrote an article on Sexual harassment towards women, specifically in the work place. It's a very important and serious topic that isn't talked about enough. The general public definitely isn't educated on it properly. Young men aren't taught to respect women like they should and young women aren't ever taught how to handle themselves if they were ever sexually harassed or if a loved one was. The fact that this author decided to write on this topic made me very happy. The author had some really great points about how to fix the situation through changing laws, and also educated readers on the movement of '#metoo'.
The only two critiques that I would have of the article is that I would have loved to see percentages of the amount of women that are sexually harassed in the workplace. I feel like this would help in order provide a stronger urgency to their readers to take action or to take a stand. The second critique I would provide is that citation is important when writing an article like this. The more citation an author provides, the stronger their argument stands.
My comment on the classmates blog: You've written a really great article on a very important topic. I really wish that the general public, including myself were more up to date and aware of how often this occurs and were educated on how to handle ourselves if this were to ever happen to ourselves or a friend. I think the '#metoo' movement is a great one and is definitely better than nothing. Maybe one other thing that they can do is teach about it more in schools. For instance the education system could possibly start a class that teaches boys to respect women and for women on how to defend themselves in moments like those and to not be embarrassed to come forward.
The only critique I would have of your article is that I'd love to see a ratio in your article that explains what percentage of women are sexually harassed in general and in the work place. Also, if you were to provide some citation, then I believe that would back your wording up and cause a stronger argument for your fight against sexual harassment.
